Hello! My name is Jordan Pettiford and I'm a student journalist and filmmaker based in New York and Atlanta. Currently, I'm senior at Columbia University double majoring in Film and Media Studies and Creative Writing. Outside of class, you can find me working on my fiction and nonfiction writing, exploring the city, and searching for stories for the Columbia Daily Spectator, the independent student newspaper where I previously served as Managing Editor of the Video Section. I first became interested in video journalism while making short fiction films with friends in Fulton County Schools' Audio, Video, Technology and Film program, but my more recent work has been focused on nonfiction and includes a music journalism segment inspired by NPR's tiny dorm concert and an archival mini-doc on the nation's first LGBT student organization. This past summer, I've had the opportunity to serve as a Newsroom Editorial Intern at CNN and have some of my scripts air on national TV; check out some examples below. Through the years I've gained experience taking videos from pre to post production; whether it's research, scripting, videography, or editing in Premiere Pro or Final Cut X, or graphics creation in After Effects I'd love to produce or help out with whatever your project may be!

Outside of my more documentary-style video work, I also have worked in other mediums for projects such as Untextbooked, a youth led history podcast where I'm an episode producer! At Untextbooked, I've had the opportunity to coordinate and conduct interviews subjects from an Emmy-winning documentarian to a career journalist and professor. Recently, Untextbooked has been nominated for an Ambie Award (Podcasting Academy)!
